MOLD FUNDRAISERS AWARDED FOR 150 YEARS OF CHARITY SERVICE
12 June 2006
Beryl Powell, chairman of the Mold committee said: I am delighted to receive my award, as are all of us from the Mold committee. The work of North West Cancer Research Funds volunteers cannot be valued too highly. The money that is raised locally is spent locally too.
Beryl is referring to the research that takes place at the North West Cancer Research Fund Institute in the University of Bangor which was opened in 2004. The Institute cost the charity 432, 000 to open in the same year that the Mold committee raised over 27,000. The Mold committee are the charitys most prolific fundraising branch, consistently raising impressive amounts each year. The money raised by Mold in 2003 undoubtedly allowed the recruitment of dedicated cancer researchers to conduct pioneering research at the Institute for the next 5 years
Barbara Edge, Morfydd Jones, Jean Price, Beryl Powell and Gladys Jones are pictured receiving their awards with the charitys lifetime president Colonel Graeme Bryson at the AGM last month.
