HIGH SHERIFF RECEIVES A CHEQUE FOR THREE QUARTERS OF A MILLION POUNDS

The guest speaker at the Annual General Meeting of North West Cancer Research Fund 2006 was Mr Michael Potts, the Fund's President and the High Sheriff of Merseyside.

A cheque for �750,000 was presented and this money will be spent on pioneering research in the North West in the coming year.

Representatives from a number of the Fund's 42 voluntary committees attended the meeting which took place in the Liverpool Medical Institute.

North West Cancer Research Fund is an independent regional cancer research charity.� It makes �750,000 available every year for fundamental research into the causes of cancer and virtually all of this money is raised through voluntary efforts and donations.� Throughout its 58 year history, an average of nearly 90p in every � raised has consistently been spent directly on research.
