CANCER RESEARCH CHARITY TO BENEFIT FROM PENMAENMAWR LADY'S GENEROSITY
North West Cancer Research Fund has received a legacy of �22,695.82 from the estate of Miss Gwendolen Williams.� Miss Williams, who lived in Penmaenmawr, died in 2005 at the age of 96.
The money will be spent on research in North West Cancer Research Fund Institute, �a dedicated centre of research excellence in Wales with a mission to carry out world class research into the fundamental causes of tumour development.� The Institute is housed in the University of Wales, Bangor.
North West Cancer Research Fund is an independent regional cancer research charity which has been active in Wales for decades.� It has 11 voluntary committees in North and Mid Wales in: Aberdovey, Bangor, Harlech, Holywell, Llandudno, Llanfairfechan & Aber, Machynlleth, Mold, Prestatyn, Ruthin and Tywyn.� Many committee members have been working for the Fund for many years and most have been personally touched by cancer.�
The Fund was founded in 1948 and, throughout its long history, an average of nearly 90p in every � raised has consistently been spent directly on research.� Further information about the charity and its work can be found on its website: www.cancerresearchnorthwest.co.uk
