Are you the Queen of the Victoria Sponge or the Master of Traybakes? Well it's time to put your skill to the test in the O-Very Cake Bake.
Star Prize:
A Kenwood KMix worth £400 and a baking masterclass with Masterchef: The Professionals Winner Claire Lara
Date: O-Very Day, Friday 2nd March 2012
Time: Submissions 12-3pm; judging commences 4-5pm, winner announced 6pm.
Location: Upstairs, LEAF tea shop, Bold Street, Liverpool

Cherry Healey (TV presenter and O-Very patron)
Anne Jackson (Chief Exec, NWCRF)
Natalie Haywood (Owner, LEAF)
Claire Lara (Masterchef: The Professionals winner)
Who? Anyone can enter as long they do not bake in any professional capacity and adhere to the rules of the competition.
How? Five categories £5 per cake entered - only one cake per category.
One winner per category and One overall winner.

Victoria Sponge
Scone
Cupcakes
Tray Bake
Freestyle
Make sure you:
1. Turn up at Leaf with your entries between 12-3pm and fill in an entry form (one per entry).
2. Leave your entry with the team.
3. Your entry will be given a letter to ensure all judging is anonymous (we'll let you know your letter so you'll know if you've won).
4. Judging takes place between 4-6pm.
5. Enjoy a lovely cup of tea at Leaf until 6pm when winners will be announced.
6. Don't forget to read the rules - this competition is open to amateurs only.

Rules
1) The 2012 competition is open to any amateur home baker 18 years of age and older, who is a UK resident.
2) The winning entry from each category will be selected by a panel of judges and one overall winner will be named from these runners up.
3) Contestants may enter one cake per category at a cost of £5 per entry.
4) Contestants unconditionally grant North West Cancer Research Fund and those acting under their authority to use their image and images of their entry for any advertising or promotional purposes whatsoever in any and all types of media.
5) By proxy entries will be accepted on the occasion the baker is unable to attend the event but only to those who have pre-warned competition organisers on the following email lucinda@nwcrf.co.uk
6) Cake entries must be made by the entrant and only the entrant. Entries found to be made by anyone else will be immediately disqualified.
7) After the winner is announced, all cakes will be entered into a cake sale to raise money for the O-Very campaign. If you do not wish your cake to be sold this must be made clear upon registration.
8) Cake entries will be cut and tasted by a panel of judges and thus those requesting the return of their cakes must be aware they will not be returned in their entirety.
9) Organisers reservs the right to re-categorise, refuse and/or disqualify entries as necessary. All organiser decisions regarding category change are final.
10) Judgement will be made by a panel of judges using a scoring method. A total of 40 points are available across the following categories: Presentation - 10 points, Taste - 10 points, Technical Ability - 10 points, Originality - 10 points.
11) In the event of a tie, the judges will come together to determine placement.
12) Judge’s decision is final.
13) All entries must be registered by 4pm on Friday 2nd March 2012. Any entries after this time will not be considered.
14) Employees of North West Cancer Research Fund are prohibited from entering.
